Visit from Grandma Moon

WE LOVE GRANDMA!
In February, we were so lucky to have a visit from Grandma Moon! We spent most of the time sewing and making Demarie a dress for her baptism day (which turned out amazing!), but we also found time to spend an afternoon at The Springs Preserve and enjoy a fun backyard BBQ!

SUPER CTR!!!

This year the theme in Primary is CTR. I was so excited to hear that this is the theme because it is something so important to instill in our children. In our Primary, we have come up with a few different ways for the children to practice choosing the right every day. Each week, we pick two children from Jr. and Sr. Primary to be the Super CTR. They get a card to take home with them and during the week they try to do something to choose the right and then write it on the card. The next Sunday, they come back to Primary and share what they did with their friends during Opening Exercises. We then take their picture and display their picture and their card on this display board out in the hall so that the parents can walk by and read what their children are doing in primary to choose the right!

We also have given each child a sheet of paper that looks similar to a BINGO board only in each space is a CTR shield. The instructions on the paper are that at the end of the day, the child shares with a parent, sibling, or other person (Heavenly Father if they want to pray), and tell them one thing they did that day to choose the right. Then, they can color in one shield on their paper. When their paper is completely filled they can bring it back to Primary to pick a prize from the CTR Prize Box (pcitured above). It is filled with CTR stickers, CTR pencils, CTR bracelets, and CTR gum, and CTR candy. Then they can get another chart to take home so they can have the opportunity to pick another prize! The idea is that the children start making conscience decisions every day to choose the right. Already I have noticed a difference in my own children. Preslyn will come up to me and tell me something she did and say, "That was choosing the right, right?"

CTR! CTR! CTR! CTR! CTR! CTR! CTR! CTR! CTR! CTR! CTR!

A friend close by!

A few months ago one of my really good friends that I met at Utah State, Rachel "Roach" McIff, moved from Indiana to St. George with her husband and four kids! He finished medical school and took a job in St. George. It has been so fun having them live closer so we can visit more often. In December, Roach and her kids came to visit us and spent the night at our house. Our kids had a great time getting to know each other and we had a great time catching up on old times. In January, we stopped in St. George and spent the night on our way home from Aaron's brother's wedding in Manti. Roach and her family were so hospitable. We ate amazing food, the kids had a blast playing together, and we went to visit their horse. Can you tell how much Preslyn LOVED the horse? We are so excited to have our friends close by!

Playdate in January!

Gotta love Vegas! On January 27th, Preslyn had a playdate. It was so beautiful outside! We rode bikes, jumped on the trampoline, and played with play doh...all outside!!!!

American Girl Doll Skirt and Matching Shirt

 Skirt

 Shirt with added sleeves

 Headband (Always important to accessorize!)

 Complete outfit

The "before" dress

Here is another American Girl Doll Outfit that I made out of a baby outfit I received when Preslyn was a baby.  I made sure to take a picture of the dress before cutting it up so I could compare the finished project. I was pretty proud of my sewing skills!  First, I cut the skirt off the top part and created a separate skirt and shirt.  I altered the top to make it more fitting and added sleeves from the extra fabric from the skirt. I added elastic to the skirt and made a headband with some ribbon and an extra flowers off the skirt.  Pretty impressive, huh?  Not bad for an amateur sewer!

Bowling!!!

Broyden, Aaron, and Uncle Rett
Aaron getting ready to bowl
It's Demarie's turn!
Brynna, Preslyn, and Broyden
On our trip to Utah we went bowling with Rett, Susie, and Brynna. We had a lot of fun. It was great to talk with them and the kids loved spending time with Brynna, especially Preslyn. Isn't it funny that there is only a few months between them yet Brynna is so much taller than Boo! I love this picture!
